“The entire industry needs to commit to safety practices for actors and stunt people involved in this type of work,” he warned.

Stalwart Films have 15 working days to pay or contest the fine.

Stunt performer John passed away in hospital after sustaining head injuries landing on concrete after his on-set fall in July.

Following the incident, AMC shut down production on the new series, issuing a statement saying: “We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talent stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set.

“He was immediately transported to Atlanta hospital and we have temporarily shut down production.

In the aftermath of the accident, The Walking Dead executive producers Gale Ann Hurd, Robert Kirkman, Dave Alpert and Greg Nicotero along with Scott M. Gimple cancelled panel show commitments to attend John’s funeral.

The Walking Dead will return to AMC on February 25 and will air on FOX UK the following day.
